I am looking for support/encouragement wondering if my worries are valid. I had surgery just a few days ago. I am experiencing major depression/anxiety feelings that I haven’t dealt with since starting ketamine. I was reading that general anesthesia can mess with your brain and rewire stuff (I guess like ketamine?) and that the feelings are transient from a few days to few months.
I thought I was done with feeling this way. Intellectually, I know it will probably go away and I’ll get back on my k routine and feel better. But emotionally I’m feeling like a bit of a wreck and in a place of ‘all my progress and financial investment and time investment is ruined and I’m stuck feeling this way forever and my life is terrible surgery probably won’t have fixed anything…. Etc etc’
I have an appointment with my therapist this week and I mentioned it to my surgeon who said it’s common to feel depressed afterwards. I’m trying different stuff to distract myself. I’m just in a really bad space today and nothing is working.
