Hi, all. I'm putting together a proposal for the university I work at now, and I'm wondering how common it is elsewhere. At my undergrad institution, Susquehanna University in Pennsylvania, the Student Government paid for student tickets for every mainstage show for the full student body, regardless of whether or not the student actually claimed that ticket. Mainstage tickets cost $10 otherwise. At my new university, where I work while I study for my MA, student tickets are $10, general tickets are $20, and tickets for members of the theatre program are $3.
Did/do your universities provide funding for free student tickets?
If so, where did that money come from?
How did that affect your theatre department's season?
I'm highly curious, and would like to start inquiring with various organizations on-campus. Thank you for your feedback!
