Dedede Productions recently announced at a press conference that they will be producing small animated shorts between seasons. Screenshots were shown and according to those in attendance there was a preview short played though there are no videos of it. The screenshots appear to possess a slightly different art style from the show. As of now we do not know if they are connected or if the shorts are non-canon.

They also explained at the conference that the long episode gap in the show has been due to several delays and roadblocks during the development of the movie. A short trailer for the movie was also reportedly shown but people in attendance were told not to share any videos of it.
