Can someone explain why this puzzle solution works? I'm in the logging place in the quarry.

I thought I understood some of the puzzle mechanics... but apparently I don't quite yet.
Just finished this puzzle.
Stars? Understood. Cancel shape? Understood. Horizontal 4 block yellow shape? Understood.
How is the condition being met for the Vertical 3 block yellow shape? I'm so confused. There is only one vertical row contained by my line and consists of 4 spaces.
