Season 5: The FBI behavioral science unit
Post Body

It feels like the unit chief for the behavioral science unit was a stand in for John Douglas, the man who was integral in creating the unit and who wrote Mindhunter. He would have been long retired at this point, but the fact that the character in the Wire stated he wrote “Human Hunter” and they reference the Unabomber case leads me to assume that he was supposed to represent Douglas.

The show made him out to look like an absolute moron. Between making it seem like he chases publicity more than the cases and the unabomber quip about how he was turned in, it’s clear someone in the writing room is not impressed with Douglas.

Does anyone know if there’s a personal backstory there? It almost feels personal how bad they made him look lol

Or do you think that Simon and/or Burns just don’t have respect for that type of police work?
