I've probably posted too much around the TVDU subs, but I've been getting a rush of ideas as I think about the shows and analyze their content.

One topic I would cover now is the connection between psychics and witches. A lot of people treat them as different but I believe them to be the same.

Witches are just unawakened psychics and psychics are just unawakened witches. Depending on where you start. Most seem to be witches by default.

My main argument for this comes from four observations the pitch fork and bell in season 8 harm psychics and witches equally. (1) Yet no other supernatural being with mental powers, the vampires, are harmed. Even Caroline’s daughters are harmed and they are not normal witches. (2) Psychics can be magically drained. (3) Bonnie’s psychic side awakened as her witch side was forced into hibernation and if I remember correctly when her witch side came back her psychic powers faded. (4) The show has stated a speculation that witchcraft has its beginnings in psychic energy. What if psychic energy was one of the earliest uses of magic energy?

Now we know magic came from the gods but the art of witchcraft is controlling that power into spells This seems to be a mental task for witches in the TVDU. So I theorize that magic energy and psychic energy support one another but not at the same time, given Bonnie’s case. One can have their psychic side either fully committed to controlling magic or their magic seems to be expanding the bounds of their mental ability. Sort of like the two sides are playing tug of war but one side constantly has the majority of the rope.

This would make the psychic abilities not magic per say but magically powered. Sort of like the vampire ability to compell or their strength. Not magic but rather an ability, or superpower, being juiced by magic. Or like a machine being charged by electricity.

That's just my two cents of witches and psychics because everyone was thinking they were different but they had way to many connections for me to consider them so.
