I feel like they should have explored siphoning witches differently. What if they had the abilities of what they siphon or they can use that magic towards spells?! I feel like that would make more sense of how heretics work/exist. Like when a siphoner dies with vampire blood in their system. They siphon the vampire magic from the blood and are forced to use it as using vampire abilities because if they absorb it for spells, it would kill them because they are alive cause of it. And it would have been used as a better story. And maybe heretics can perform small spells from using the vampire magic. But they would still need to siphon other things for bigger spells. It could have been written differently and better
