Has anyone turned down recruitment?

I could be misremembering but lwhen Kieron got recruited on UKS1 the note said either āaccept the offer or be murderedā, but it in the other versions Iāve watched (UKS2/AUS-S2/US-S1) Faithfuls can turn the offer down, but havenāt.
Has this ever happened? Do you think there are advantages to declining the recruitment?
