I've probably ran I Want To Disappear back-to-back 20 times at this point, and would love to share my thoughts & spark some discussion.
To start, this album truly feels like the perfect culmination of their previous works. It hits like a breath of fresh air, and is an emotional journey start to finish. This album is the most "pop-punk" sounding of any of their work, but each band member has enough uniqueness in their delivery to make it sound undoubtedly TSSF. Fast poppy intros & bridges that remind me of Blink 182/NFG on 'Watch You Go', 'Jump the gun' & 'You're still in my way'. The song 'White Shores' is such a cathartic experience as it starts softly slowing building to a powerful release, my favorite on the album along with 'Keep You Around'.
Parkers lyrics have shifted toward grief/loss as opposed to resentment/contempt. Raw, honest; simultaneously sad as fuck yet undeniably light and hopeful. As always, parkers lyrics are general enough to apply to so many situations & people, but I think his voice is the best it's ever been. His vocal melodies/delivery is what really shines. Guitars by Will & Kevin are perfection. Torf is goated on the drums, insane work on all songs. The overall energy of the album is just... beautiful. Everything we could have hoped for. Watching this band's growth for the past 15 years has been a treat.
What are your thoughts?
Like even the song order of the whole album is just perfect
