updates/ mods/ new laptop

Ok so I bought a new laptop took 3 nights to fully download all games from EA. Downloaded all the mods I use so I'd be good to go when finally get to play then found out there was an update on the 17th while I wasn't home. Are all my mods safe since I haven't opened the game at all yet to play or will I have to start all over?
