Resuming simpons viewing - 19 seasons to catch up on.

I stopped watching the simpsons around season 15 or 16 because the writing quality was getting bad.
Since i've got a lot of time on my hands lately, i thought i'd resume watching the, currently remaining 19 seasons. Is this a mistake and i'm wasting my valuable time or do i have something to look forward to?
