Advice for solo instances?

So I'm a QL 5-7 (high end in offensive double pistols/elemental magic) trying to get through Savage Coast. Buuuut. I have trouble in solo instances.
Mainly, I waited 3 days and returned for the Bogeyman, and now I'm doing the Lair of Darkness in Ami Legend and I keep dying during wave attacks.
Any advice for keeping alive as a heavy DPS focus?
