Is the original always better than the remake?

Is there ever a film that remade is better than the original?Can you think of one? I think we can all agree the remake of the Italian Job was shite and not even in Italy. The only film I could think of was Scarface, quite different films but both gangster based.
So anyone got an idea if there are any better remakes?
