It was the second time in as many days he had tasted the bitter brine of the cold Vaskr north coast, and Red wondered what twist of circumstance had the Vaskr civilians calling for his help, the letter for aid he held in his hand was something of an oddity for the Vaskr.
Combat armour, and potions stolen, and multiple citizens killed, but the biggest question Red had was "Where are Vaskr's warriors?"
His horse stamped the ground, as Red bent down to examine the tracks.
"He's come by recently, these tracks are less than an hour old." Red thought, as he bottled his horse.
The tracks led to an oceanside cave, a slow howl came from the depths as the ocean wind rushed past, and the thumping of a rope ladder into the depths caught his eye.
"He's down there..." He thought, "...but there's no way of knowing what's in that vipers den if I go in."
Cautiously Red peered into the depths, but the dark was impassible, a dread had crept up his spine as a whoosh of air passed by him.
"Something's not right here." Red thought, "Very not right."
Taking to the sea, Red paddled into the bay.
From the shorside, an arrow struck his shoulder and another sunk the boat. Turning to face his attacker ... there was, nothing.
The waves crested and fell against the shore but yet there was no sign of an attacker, another arrow shot past and only the speed imbued with his Depth Striders kept Red from harm.
"He's invisible, ... again another concealed attacker in this sea." Red pondered, "but this is good, he won't be able to use those potions in the surf."
Slipping below the waves, he looked for the telltale displacement of an invisible attacker in the water, and found it, CompleteWeeb was here.
Red loosed an arrow, but it arched wide, and immediately CompleteWeeb's diamond armour became visible.
Volleys of arrows shot between the two, as the waves crashed, but the battle kept to a stalemate.
"He's very good." Red thought, "..he's had training and is experienced, I need to turn this around."
Red dived deeper into the sea and hoped his target would follow, using his breathing apparatus he watched as CompleteWeeb pushed below the surface and dove to pursue.
Swords met underwater, and a look of panic passed through CompleteWeebs's eyes as a blow struck him in the side.
"He's winded, and out of air." Red thought, relieved.
Gurgles issued forth from CompleteWeeb's mouth as he clawed for the surface, however the weight of his ill-gotten gains dragged him to the bottom of the ocean as the life left his body.
The coalescing of a trapped soul caused Red's pearl to glow, and in that moment, he knew the fight was over.
As he returned to town, Red left the plundered armour to Lashon, and was showered with thanks by Rosk.
"Where did you find him at, or did you just run him down no where of importance?" Rosk asked.
"I ran him down in the water." Red replied.
"Your help was much appreciated." Rosk stated, relief evident in his stance.
"Just call if you ever get another one." Red said, though thoughts on Valkr's missing warriors still plagued him.
"Take this as a token of our gratitude, I will be sure to tell Jokull of your assistance." said Rosk.
Rosk proffered a set of small runes, and Red accepted them.
"Thank you sir." and with that Red unbottled his horse and fitted the saddle, and in an instant was gone.
