So all the xp requirements and info are posted on the subreddit, so I’m gonna make a post outlining what you need to do to hit landmark levels on the different professions. This is using the values on the professions post, but to my knowledge the live xp requirements are higher than what is shown on the sub.
Anyways, here goes:
Level 5 Blacksmith (required for saddles)
Blacksmiths get XP from a variety of crafting and smelting. I’ll break down the XP process to figure out the most efficient way of getting XP and then calculate how many resources (not time, you guys can figure or guess that if you want on your own). You’ll need to get it.
You only need 4750 xp to get Blacksmith level 5, so not so bad.
The ore smelting xp is basically pity xp. You aren’t going to get a significant amount from it, but if it makes 5% of your xp that’s not bad. To put it in perspective, you get more xp crafting a stone shovel than smelting 3 gold ore.
Tools and armor give the same amount of xp despite armor costing up to 8x more than tools to craft, so we aren’t going to craft armor for xp, only if we actually need it. With 8xp per set of diamond armor, that’s not going to make much of a difference.
Diamond tools only give 2xp vs stone tools 1xp, so were going to mass craft stone tools for xp. Since it says tools rather than dividing down to picks etc. we’re going to craft shovels as they are the cheapest. That means we need to craft 4750 stone shovels (and you can’t shift click).
That’ll cost 4750 cobble and 9500 sticks, or 18.5 stacks of log and 74 stacks of cobblestone for level 5. If we made diamond tools we would have to use about 37 stacks of diamonds and half as many logs. This would fill nearly a hundred doublechests full of stone shovels.
Level 10 Blacksmith
If you want max level, you need to craft 101550 stone shovels. That’s 29 DC’s of cobblestone and roughly 7.5 DC’s of logs. Remember, you can’t shift click ;) though tbf I’m pretty sure that is to prevent the client from tricking the server into thinking a craft went through when it really didn’t, so it’s actually reasonable as it fixes a game breaking bug.
Blacksmith appears to be on the easier end of professions to level up due to its relatively low costs and synergy with gatherers gathering gatherables.
Level 5 Engineer
You need this to craft ship cores. Pretty important stuff.
Let’s break down the Engineer XP gain methods. You mainly get it from crafting Engineer-y things.
The highest XP gain is from Bastions, but you need to already be level 9 to get that. On top of that they are really expensive, and you only get 25 xp for crafting 16 bastions. So that’s out of the question.
The lowest XP gain is from smelting items like sand, clay, stone, netherrack, etc. You get 0.1 xp per item BUT this is by far cheaper than all the other items. It’s likely the best method compared to the cost of crafting the others but we will look at them anyways. You also can only do this or craft sparks of energy until level 3 as your only methods of xp gain.
Sparks of energy give you 2 xp in exchange for 3 diamonds 3 netherquartz and 3 coal. That’s actually worse than the blacksmith diamond tools and it’s even more exspensive. You may make some of these for a little bit of XP as you need 24 per ship core and 54 per batch of bastions, but if you aren’t planning on making any of those you probably won’t be able to sell these that easily as any engineer can craft these.
Energized shards are an option, but they require five sparks of energy and 3 crusted earth and only give a whopping 5 xp. They also require level 3.
Ship cores and elevators give 10 xp and require levels 7 and 5 respectively. They also need 4 and 3 energized shards respectively in addition to more resources. About a stack of diamonds each on top of other materials.
So… Realistically? You’ll probably craft quite a few sparks of energy and if you can afford the crusted earth you’ll also craft them into the next level. That gives 17xp per 6 shards, so 17 xp for 18 diamonds, 18 coal, 18 netherquartz, and 3 crusted earth. However, you’ll get the bulk of your xp from just grinding smelted materials.
So XP requirements. You need 4750 for level 5. That means if you wanna make sparks of energy exclusively it will cost you 111 stacks of diamonds, netherquartz, and coal. If you also make them into energized shards it will cost you 80 stacks of diamonds, netherquartz, and coal as well as 13.2 stacks of crusted earth. These methods will also net you 4.3 stacks of energized shards or 37 stacks of energized shards. Or just 47,500 blocks smelted (742 stacks) [13.7 dcs] and the 92 stacks of coal/charcoal it takes to smelt that much
Level 9 Engineer
You need this to craft Bastions, which are a huge military advantage, ESPECIALLY for defence. If you plan on being able to defend your city or vault from attackers, Bastions should be on your to-do list, if not already on your radar. Since it’s basically too expensive to craft the engineer items for any significant xp you’re just going to smelt a shitton of stuff. Like a lot. Actually 475,500 blocks. Or 7429 stacks of blocks. Or 137 DC’s of blocks. It will also take 1/8th of all those numbers in coal or charcoal to smelt them all.
Oh I also calculated it’s 293 DC’s if you want level 10 engineer but that probably isn’t worth your time.
Level 10 Farmer
500,000 wheat, 200,000 mob kills, or 10,000 apple pies, but you’ll likely do a combination of all three. (only apple pie gives xp, not any other foods) Also half the foods give less food than their component parts which seems really silly.
Level 10 Fisherman
Who would want to do this
Level 10 Guardsmen
You could do it with 2000 ender dragons, but I don’t think that’s going to happen. Most mobs give 1.2 xp per kill except golems and endermen who give 5 and 2 respectively. Custom mobs do not give bonus xp (they should). That brings it to about 84,000 mob kills for level 10.
Researcher level 7
Brewing gives more xp than enchanting despite being much easier to do, so this will be your main source of xp. You’ll get a small bonus from any enchanting you do as well as any slices of void you may craft. You get 3.5 xp per fully brewed potion and 4.5 if you make them splash. Btw The fragments give 5 xp surprisingly compared to the lower values for engineers to make sparks of energy which are about as expensive. That brings you to 278 DC’s of splash potions (about 80 stacks of each mat tons of bottles). Or roughly 6000 enchants on diamond tools/armor/weapons if you want to do that.
Researcher level 10
1246 DCs of splash potions for researcher level 10. Or 25,000 enchants on diamond armor/tools/weapons.
I would venture to guess that under 100 DCs of potions have been brewed and used in the lifetime of CivEx and Realms combined, unless someone has stocked up an insane amount that I don't know about, if you want to use that to put it in perspective of how many get used. Professions shouldn't have to make more things than will ever be used in the servers lifetime just to get one person to max level.
EDIT: I Forgot gatherer I think, I'll write that in later.
