Okay guys, here’s the lore! I know you all have been looking forward to the cause of the end of Spera and the beginning of Natum, and we’re getting close to the wire – eleven days left – so I think it’s about time! This is more just a summary of the lore – I really didn’t like the long drawn out lore that I had written, so this may be redone later, but figured you guys would rather see the summary than wait for the story lore.

Spera is not the only world out there. It never has been, and it never will be. It is connected to the void, which contains a system that connects every single world out there. Spera’s connection to the void was destroyed and recreated (for purposes you will have the ability to discover when on Natum), only the recreated connection was done poorly. Imagine pulling a thread out of a sweater and then trying to weave a new string back in. The chances of it being done perfectly is … is so slim. Because of this, there were a few holes. The void, though it connects all these worlds, is true to its name. It is always hungry, always empty, and always consuming. It took advantage of those holes, of the vulnerabilities that Spera left open. And so it began to consume the energy in Spera.

It began with the darker souls, the monsters and undead of the world. It then moved on to more sentient creatures, to humans and dwarves and elves and demons. Spera’s protectors, its Gods and Goddesses, were too busy with themselves, or not strong enough to do anything, until they too were ripped away into the void. Spera was consumed, and all that was left was a dead planet. Unable to grow food on it, because there was no more energy that Spera could give to bring the seeds to life. Just a dead, barren wasteland.

Those souls were taken into the void. Some souls were lost to the void forever, forgotten. They are eternally drifting in a sea of nothingness. A few souls were fortunate. They were able to cling to the hastily made connection, and were able to travel across the void in a single direction, to the place that caused the destruction of their home. Some with memories, some without. Other souls, also lost in the void, will use this connection to also find their way to the world that caused this, even if they never belonged to Spera. Upon leaving the void, no soul retains their memories of the void.

Where was your character/you when Spera collapsed? What was your character’s/your last memory? What goals, aspirations did they/you accomplish? What did they/you lose behind? Will your character retain those memories? It is your soul that is moving on, not your body – will you be the same person? Will your time in the void change you? Are you a new soul to Natum, or are you a soul that came from Spera originally?

You don’t need to answer all of these questions, but they might help you flesh out any characters that you would like to start. This was intentionally left very open ended so that your character can continue on as they once were, with the same personality, or you could create a new character. c: I’m really excited to see all of the possible characters you guys have created. You don’t need to incorporate the void at all, or even Spera, but really, just. Just have fun with it!
