Belos is a fantastic villain but he always hit really close to home with how similar he is to those that wish to hurt the LGBT community, especially trans people like me. Throughout the show his ideology has shown to be a virus, a disease that corrupted everything it touches, just like the zealots in our world. Even when he became the literal monster he saw the denizens of the Demon Realm as, he was too self-righteous to see it or even care. He saw everything as justification, everybody was just a pawn to him.
I love how in the end he took the shape of his human past. Not an emperor, not a dragon, nothing more than a simple human. He used that form to trick Luz, to ask for mercy when he had given none to others. But Luz wasn't fooled and he couldn't hide from what he was inside. Him melting at the touch of boiling rain showed just how weak and pathetic he really was. People like that never change. They never see the light and they never want to. I am glad Luz didn't help him or show him mercy. He didn't deserve it. All he deserved was to be wiped out.
