What exactly did Finn do?
Post Body

I know in this sub that a lot of people side with Finn when it comes to his family and see leaving him in a box for 900 years as unjustifiable. For the most part I can agree, but something doesn’t sit right with me.

It doesn’t make sense for most of the original characters, possibly even Klaus, to leave him daggered for so long without what would be due reason in their eyes. Elijah, Kol and Rebekah especially so.

Finn rebukes Elijah’s reasoning for keeping boxed up, but Elijah seems to believe that Finn was truly a danger. Something consistent with Elijah’s character is that he only resorts to extremes against a family member when they are a danger to the family. Rebekah and Kol arguably should have advocated for Finn’s release more in that time but didn’t. Not even when Kol searched for allies to make a dagger for Klaus, and given what we know about Finn, he would have been fully onboard for that plan yet Kol never sought an ally in him.

This tells me that the situation that lead to them keeping Finn boxed up was more complicated than either side’s views. Even the bore argument doesn’t really work, given that each time it’s mentioned Klaus, Kol and Elijah are just mocking Finn and don’t seem serious at all.

So, can anyone propose a theory as to what happened that brought about Finn’s long ass dirt nap?
