Using snap for promoting

I notice people are using snap for promoting there OF. But I am kinda scared to do it as it is connected to my phone number, and I don't want my contacts to see my OF name pop up or my pics. Is there a way to hide this from them? Or do I need another number?
Also is it safe to use In terms of hiding your location, and personal info? I never knew you could use it for promo until now x
