Itβs clear throughout the series (and referenced explicitly in NtN that the sword (and rapiers in particular) are a central part of the culture of the houses. Does anyone know why? In a future with necromancy (and I presume awesome space guns) it seemed like such an anachronistic hill for the houses to die on, no pun intended.
Does anyone know where this is explained? Or have their own theories? πππΌ
I think it's a branding problem. Spadroon just sounds silly in English the way that it doesn't in Spanish and French.

fr I tried Tibault rapier recently and that style is not for slouches. Sabre and smallsword seem like better options for the weak nerd arms of a necro.
