I am new to the whole concept of meditation, so forgive me for my rookie questions.
For someone like me, with very little knowledge, it would seem that the realization that there is no self would cause a few "problems". I can see it having a detrimental effect on ambition, for example. If it's possible to be happy with little, why struggle for more? I can also envision it causing a certain apathy for the world and those in it, since everything is temporary. Actually, I've heard the precise opposite - that meditation can make its practitioners more empathetic, and more connected... but I don't understand how.
