Technically speaking, I'm fetal to Ohio. I move to Cincinnati in July for my wife's work, unless I get a job sooner and head there before her. I don't know how many Crew games I'll actually get to, but I figure this is a start.
Before I get in to MLS stuff, I'd like to say that I'm pretty new to Reddit as a hub. I think you can see my history and that I've posted the occasional comment, but I think this is my first submission. I mention this because I'm not sure what the norms are about posting requests and such, like one might in a forum. I read the reddiquette and this is not addressed, but there are always unspoken rules. The reason I mention this at all is that I run a small non-profit sports website and we are always looking for writers, photographers, videographers, etc. (It is hard to say how far we are from me being full time on the project...too many financial variables with two potential moves coming up) I guess I was surprised to see a text post was even possible. I guess at the heart, I have always thought of Reddit as a place for links, rather than a forum. Is this true? mostly true? I was told on G that Reddit was the online place for Crew fans, so I'm giving it a go.
By way of reference on my Crew game attendance, I've been in Baltimore the past three summers while I was in school and we only managed to go to two United games. Three years of law school in southernish New Hampshire and I never went to a Revolution game. Three years in Wisconsin, but only went to two Fire games. (I've also been to a NASL Railhawks game and a Madison 56ers PDL game to the extent that is interesting)...so yeah, I guess if you can convince me to go to three Crew games, I have to become an official Crew fan. I've been pretty deep in United land mentally, but I own no gear. I do own some Fire shorts, so I don't know. My dad's side is from Louisville, so I'd like to stay in the area, so being as enthusiastic about the area as possible is the best way to convince my wife to stay after her year is up. I've lived a lot of different places and grew up with multiple collegiate rooting interests (my dad is a professor), so this is not a particularly new situation for me.
I have some opening questions for the community:
- What's the best Crew podcast? I've got the "Inside the Crew" on my feed and while I like the professional audio-quality, it is fairly sterile as far as content.
- Do people play FIFA14/15? Which platforms? Do people like to discuss their fantasy Crew teams here? I'm still FIFA14/PS3 due to the near-term financial uncertainty. I just started a player career campaign with the Crew.
- Are any of you in Cincinnati? Any suggestions for apartment complexes? We are viewing a couple of places on December 26 when we head up from Louisville, but we could easily add more to the list. We're looking at the $1200/month range right now for context.
Thanks!
