Ok so my memory is fuzzy but back when I was very familiar with the book series I had a theory about this unexplained supernatural occurrence written of in the Bestiary.

We know that when the new god Talkus was defeated it was defeated by dropping it into magma far back in the past using the Tower of Time. While I don't remember the exact description of what Talkus looked like, some quick googling only tells me he was Skelt shaped but I swear he was more human looking, I believed that the Cawley Stone Crawler is Talkus crawling his way out of the rock to escape. He is a god who's powers we never truly witnessed in full.
