I think that the avatar have several curses and the curses include

•The avatar can only be with women meaning that a male avatar can never marry a man and a female can never marry a man •The avatar will be able to kill themselves because they would end the avatar line(has something to due with the avatar state that I will elaborate on if asked) •The avatar cannot truly fall in love due to the 7th chakra •The avatar could not be get the extra power from Sozins comet, full moon, lunar eclipse and tornadoes unless they were of the race that gets power from the specific event
