The showrunners as we know have discussed toning down Sokka's sexist character flaw arc. This has me worried they will also change the themes about ableism with Toph. I'm physically handicapped and I appreciate so much how well the animation dealt with this topic.
Ableism is not often addressed in entertainment and can be controversial even when done well. After hearing about the reasoning behind Sokka's alterations, I'm concerned that the showrunners will alter Toph and her dealings with ableism, especially with the blind jokes with her friends and how they often forget she is blind.
With this post, I hope the showrunners will stay true to the animation's handling of this topic. The animation did a great job humanizing Toph.
