I've been listening to the Japanese House on and off for a while, mostly because her tunes are catchy and somewhat upbeat, which makes them popular in places like H&M or recommended Spotify playlists.
Recently I went through a pretty cathartic breakup. To spare you all on the detail, it was hard at first but I ended up delving into self development and gaining a whole new understanding of who I am and what I'm worthy of. The lyrics in the songs started to make a lot more sense to me. Mostly I appreciate Amber's honesty in depicting her pains and lingering feelings for her ex after a loving relationship, but also sobering thoughts on why the relationship didn't work out, how society over pressures people on being in a relationship, suicide, depression, addiction, and why loving yourself is going to serve you well in the long run with or without a relationship. I find Amber so relatable just like a friend (I'm around the same age), which definitely helped me a lot in picking myself back up from the relationship and moving on.
Just wanna say that I'm excited to find this r/ and the new EP is bomb!!
xx
