I read all of the discussion and watched it twice, and my mind keeps coming back to the moment when June is waiting to get off the boat and looks in the mirror to fix her hair.
After everything she’s been through. Her body battered and bruised. Wearing clothes that are the least attractive possible thing she could be wearing. Still, in that moment she wanted to look nice to meet Luke. Like you’d do before heading out the door for a date.
Despite how fearless she has been facing rape, torture, death, and worse... The rejection of Luke seems to be the one thing she is most fearful of.
And I also love how there was no shots of Gilead or Canada during the boat ride. Only flashbacks. It was subtle but powerful - nothing existed during that boat ride other than June’s struggle and inner conflict. It was a truly a journey between two worlds.
