TIL 'Marthas' namesake.
Martha was Lazarus' sister in the Bible, and when Jesus came to call, she was flustered trying to provide hospitality to him and his entourage while her sister, Mary, merely wanted to sit around listening to Jesus rap about the word of God.
As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord's feet listening to what he said. But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, "Lord, donβt you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!"
In the Roman Catholic tradition, she is the patron saint of butlers, cooks, dietitians, domestic servants, homemakers, hotel-keepers, housemaids, housewives, innkeepers, laundry workers, maids, manservants, servants, servers, single laywomen, and travellers.
I haven't read the book so this bit of trivia may or may not be explicit in the canon, but it wasnt in the Wiki so I decided to share with y'all!
