How to tone down the red in my hair

I recently dyed my hair red, at first it was a nice auburn color, but over the past few days it has somehow turned into a bright ass fire engine red. I want to do something to tone down the color (possibly dye over it with a box dye) without losing all of the redness. any advice would be appreciated.

Red changes a lot, even in the sun it gets brassy. Go to a beauty supply store and get a nice dye. I used L’Oréal hicolor and the only time it changed colors was when I washed it.
