Hi ladies, For around a year now I’ve been experiencing darkness around my mouth. It’s always there sometimes really dark, and sometimes not noticeable. It really embarrasses me and I just don’t know what to do about it or what it is. I don’t know if it’s from sugar, weight gain ( even though I only gained around 7 pounds) or what.

I’m wondering if anyone has ever dealt with this and what you did. Is it worth a dermatologist appointment?

I had something similar and was diagnosed with Perioral Dermatitis.

It is apparently associated with the use of topical steroids and overtreating your skin - I got it after repeatedly slathering my face in coconut oil. silly me

Avoiding most product, especially irritants and applying topical antibiotics (I got eythromycin) made it go away - good luck and I also feel like it‘s barely visible btw!
