Where did you start when discovering perfumes?

Title may be a little clunky, so let me explain!

I'm in my late 20s and usually just use a little body spray when I need to, however, id really like to find a couple nice perfumes to use instead.

How did you know what kind of scents to look for with what you liked? Are cheap perfumes bad? Are those perfume sample subscriptions like scentebird worth it?

I really only have a Walmart to go to, so good places to buy online would be nice, too. I could go to a target if they have better options, just not as frequent

I'm really clueless on where to start and what to look for regarding this topic but I also don't want to be made fun of if I bring it up in public because "body spray is childish and trashy" I've started transitioning my style into a more comfortable and adult like since becoming a parent and would like have other aspects reflect this change as well.

I hope I wasn't all over the place but any questions or clarifying, just ask

check out the /r/fragrance subreddit..

I started when I was a teenager.. with department store perfumes/perfumes i would find in the mall lol. Now I stick to department stores, Sephora, and Ulta.

cheap does not mean "bad"

check out walmart online... look for perfume samples.. or even ebay.. look for a little set so you can try them out!

body sprays aren't trashy... how much someone applies can be overdone, yes. think a teenage boy with axe body spray. axe can smell JUST FINE if used conservatively.
