How to handle parents aging as an only child?

Post Body

I’m 29F, my parents are getting older, I’m an only child and have been starting to think about plans for my parents as they age (I’m in Canada).

The problem is that I’m not super close with them due to past abuse from my father, so my relationship with them is rather complex. I also live 16 hrs away from them. They have a will, but no other plans in terms of retirement.

Any other only children in a similar scenario?
