Issues pairing Samsung remote (2024) to ATV 4K?

Anyone else have trouble pairing the Samsung remote (2024) to the ATV4K? Was considering just forgoing the Apple remote until the art mode on/off issue with ATV remote is sorted out, but when I go into ATV settings to learn a new remote, I can’t get the ATV to recognize it.
Also, aside from losing trackpad, any other functionality downsides to moving to the Samsung remote?
