Just to preface, I know there are quite a few fantasy authors out there who don't have maps of their world in their books at all. I own all of his First Law World books, but I'm currently reading, for the first time, The Blade Itself. I am just curious as to why Mr. Abercrombie doesn't have one when he goes through the trouble to give detailed descriptions of his lands, their locations, etc. I've seen quite a few fan-made maps of his world and they all seem to look the same. Does he have an actual map in his later books in the series? Or does he just write with such detail that readers get a supremely vivid description of the layout of the world? Thank you for any insight!
