Book 6, early impressions leave me feeling this book is a bit heavy handed. Spoilers

Post Body

I’m only on page 120, and there have been two instances of nearly back to back chapters that are just too much for me. I forget the first, if the post gets enough traction I’ll try to find it.

But there was a chapter where Filip is going on and on about squats not considering time on a ship as real life. They think it doesn’t count. As soon as they are at station they jump the ship and spend as much time as possible off the ship. They don’t get that life/society/future memories all continue while on the float.

Que his dad talking about the Afghans and not being tied to the cities, it’s all about the space between.

Que something about the difference between standing on a hard surface and standing on soil.

Then BAM!!! Here’s Holden who, while on Luna, prefers to stay on his ship. He doesn’t really miss earth. He’s torn between correcting his dad on insensitivity(racism?) and allowing Naomi to not be in the center of attention further. Our man who bridges gaps, semi messiah, feels at home most on the ship and on the float.

Filip is obsessed with Holden, hates the ignorance of inners. Holden the inner is experiencing the exact opposite of Filip’s theory.
