At the risk of sounding callous, what disgusted me the most (or at least most often) was ALL THE SMOKING! In practically every scene, someone’s lighting up and puffing away. I know it was common place in NYC in the 70 and 80s, but...

It made me think of a story I read a while back how cigarette companies, barred from any sort of traditional advertisements, are resorting to new methods of getting people to smoke, and one of those ways was to pay movie/TV shows to have characters smoke.

I don’t know if there’s a direct link for this re: The Deuce (such deals are usually hush hush) but damn, that seems like the only reason.

Anyone else get repulsed by this?
