Could Rolands lobstrosity encounter have been reversed? (SPOLIERS - books 2 and 7)

Sorry if this has been asked but could Roland not have asked Patrick Danville to draw his fingers back?
I was waiting for this to happen since Patrick erased Susannah's facial sore.
Then when he was asking him to draw the rose and held up his depleted hand to indicate that he wanted two drawings I thought maybe Patrick would interpret this as "draw my hand whole".
Even though she left with his other gun I would have loved a prime gunslinger dual wielding in a face off with the red king.
