Paintings by Mead Schaeffer in a 1928 edition, published by Dodd Mead and Company. I have this coming to me on inter-library loan so I can see these for myself in-person, and read the text. My research indicates that it is abridged, and I want to read it and see if it's good!
LOOK at these illustrations! So beautiful and a bit surrealistic, too! Especially "The Carnival in Rome" where everything is a colorful haze. Just imagine Albert, after having a few drinks and a little tipsy and determined to have a fling, goes outside and his minds-eye sees this. He's fascinated, and eager to join in, even though it might be a little dangerous...
