SI Uplifts -- where do you draw the line?

Post Body

I've seen quite a few SI uplifts just go OOGA BOOGA, immediately goes on to craft gunpowder, start the industrial age, and proceeds to dominate the known world. But... it just kills the genre for me, it just doesn't feel like "ASOIAF" anymore.

Though thankfully, a lot does not go there (that I've read at least) and focuses on just taking parts such as for example, the fic called "A Farmer's Tale" goes for the seed drills and some farming machines early on but never going too far or creating things close to the modern age. And it actually has good reasons for his other "inventions" since the fic spans decades.

Poll -- There's also the Napoleonic and the Industrial Revolution, but I can't add anymore, so... x)
