This season has been amazing. Most notably: the character development with Butcher, MM, Hughie, Starlight, and Homelander has been top notch. Every scene within the main plot has felt extremely well written and paced.
Considering how amazing the rest of this season is, it really sucks that every time it cuts away to Frenchie and Kimiko, the show drags.
Now it’s not terrible, or even BAD by any means. It just feels unnecessary, and the characters (as of now) feel like they don’t belong in the show.
The writers expect us to care about Nina as a villain, when we barely know anything about her, and she came out of nowhere. It just all feels way too disconnected. (Why should I get invested in Cherie’s well-being with some Russians, when Solider Boy is running around).
I’ve always felt that Frenchie’s storyline felt out of place in the previous seasons, but it really sticks out in Season 3.
Does anybody else feel this way? Besides that though, I’m loving Season 3.
