Sutton and Richard's wedding day is here, and Sutton is faced with a big decision; Jane tries to celebrate with her friends while struggling to process recent discoveries; Kat's continuing crusade against the board has unexpected consequences.
How awesome was Jacqueline and Richard's conversation right before he walked down the aisle? Really nice how they showed a little parallel between the two couples: how a career trajectory affects their relationship.
Initially I did think that Sutton was "letting go" of her career ambitions at Scarlet after deciding to leave New York. Granted she wanted to get married and begin a life wirh Richard in SF. Low-key, I felt like she was running away from the work animosity that happened with Oliver.
But after getting offered that stylist job and communicating that to Richard, my respect for Sutton grew a whole lot more. Her honesty was sooo refreshing and it was satisfying getting the big break she's been eyeing for since the beginning of the series! Plus, it's great to see a man supporting their partner's career! FFS, how many times is it brought up that she's an assistant yet doing the most out of all of them in the trio?!?! Sutton finally got what she deserved and it's nice to see her not have to choose between her professional and personal. I really liked how during the wedding, she said "I Do" to accepting the stylist position and to committing to Richard.
Jacqueline's speech, about how here is a woman who knows what she wants and is telling you what she wants, was amazing. I can almost picture her having this same conversation with Ian just as soon as her editor job began. Her line about "building up resentment" makes me wonder. I hope they work on their marriage and stay together. Or at least show more of them attempting to. I feel like Ian just upped and left, leaving no room to talk then Jacqueline was all "Ian left. We're separated." Can someone clear up if the show have them together or not, or even in the process of figuring it all out?
I have nothing to say for Jane other than I'm glad she figured out what was best for herself. When she admitted that part of the reason why they stayed together was because she liked having the support, that calibrated my opinion of her. It makes sense that she stuck through with Ryan, even after she cheated because he was with her through her medical needs. It reminded me of that Sex and the City storyline with Samantha saying she couldn't break up with Jerrod because he was with her through the cancer.
Kat needs that termination to learn that she can't get away with doing illegal stuff for the sake of the good. I'm looking forward to see how the show illustrates her adjustment (or non-adjustment) outside of Scarlet space. Let's see if and when she gets back in there. Honestly, for her kind of temperament and values, I can see her going into politics., maybe some type of community organizer role. What do y'all see for Kat post-Scarlet termination?
I can't believe this was the finale! When is the new season airing?
