Does Megan Boone’s acting ever get better?

I’m at the end of season 1, and her acting has been so bad so far. So unnatural, tone is off, speaks loudly in certain scenes for no reason, and overall just very try-hard to the point that she just seems way out of place compared to other characters.
How can the protagonist of a series be so badly played??
