I keep saying in this room, that the ending was not about meaning to give "answers" to anything shown previously in the show. The ending and frankly the entire last season was about Red and no one else. The task force was always destined to have to follow instructions as they answer to the gov, not to Red. So them searching for Red was destined to end badly for Red one way or the other. Fortunately, it ended IMO on a positive note. A note on freedom, on determination to survive until the very end, on a note of defiance to any adversary or threat. And that's exactly what Red did. He stared death in the face, unflinching, undeterred, unafraid. He didn't die to me. He evolved. To me it was the perfect ending.
