Is TAR8 as bad as people say?

Title.
I’ve been going through every season on Prime (just coming up to the end of TAR4 now) and I’ve heard 8 has really bad reviews. I’m intrigued by the concept of families racing instead of pairs, but with the reviews and them not leaving the US part of me is wondering if it’s even worth watching.
