The show leaves the audience guessing a lot!—not just in regards to the different perspectives, but also with the constant jumps in time. It’s sometimes frustrating and can make for a very difficult timeline to follow, but I think it kept the show interesting because we never knew what we were going to get! That being said, there were a lot of moments where I felt like I had to fill in the blanks about what happened.
S1E9: Episode ends with Alison looking at Cole and Noah at the train station. In Alison’s version Cole even says that they should get away together. Then we fast forward at least 4 months? I’m assuming Alison said nothing to either of them and went directly to Athena? Did Cole and Noah just stare each other down as Alison took off on the train? Lol
S2E1: Alison and Noah are now living together after the Cole gun standoff at the end of S1. I’m assuming end of S1 happens around April. Then by S2E1 it’s probably June. Just interesting to wonder how they ended up reconciling again during that time. We did see them hug at the end of S1E10 in Alison’s version.
Other big things that happened offscreen that I would’ve wanted to see were when Alison and Noah got married (can’t pinpoint the timing but likely soon after Cole & Luisa’s wedding? because they’re married throughout the investigation/trial) and when Alison tells Cole that Joanie is his (and development of that relationship) which I assume happened soon after Noah went to jail and Joanie was probably 2. Also 6 months go by between S3E2 & S3E4 (Joanie’s 5th birthday) and I didn’t catch that at first (also curious about how Cole and Oscar became friends, ha).
Are there any other startling time jumps? Moments you wanted to see? Mix-ups you caught?
