When I first watched the outdoor sex scene by the car between Alison and Cole from Noahâs perspective, I was shook. I thought, oh no, Joshua Jackson plays a horrible rapist husband :/! But once I saw it from Alisonâs perspective, I had a change of heart. I thought their argument right before was really heartfelt and realistic. They were both in so much pain. I love when Cole hugs Alison when she talks about how much her pain hurts and says âI know it does babyâ. You can see how much they care about each other and how much theyâve been through together. After they start intensely making out, Cole asks Alison to go inside, presumably to have sex. She says no and pushes him away. He tries again and she hits his hand. They then make eye contact for a while and Cole aggressively bends her over on top of the car and they have sex. I was still a little uncomfortable watching this scene because I wasnât sure if it was consensual on Alisonâs part. Are we supposed to assume that the glances they exchanged meant that Alison wanted him to do that to her? Like they have this form of nonverbal communication between them that insinuates that thatâs what she wantedâfor him to aggressively have sex with her right then and there? He even says âIs this what you want?!â and she says âyesâ. Or was she really saying no and he violated her? Was she too sad to really stop him? Did he really force himself on her? This scene feels so different than the Noah and Alison tree sex scene in episode 2.06 that I would call rape...
