I'll start by saying RDR2 has an amazing story and probably the most detailed and "alive" world in all of video games.
However, I think the gameplay is not really all that great. I think it tries so hard to be extremely realistic that it can often get in the way of the game itself, the controls feel very clunky to me and the mechanics can get old quick.
What I mean about the mechanics is for example the first time he picks up a can you loot I'm like "wow that's so detailed it doesn't just go in the inventory he actually grabs it" but by the thousandth time I pick up a can I just wanted him to hurry up.
Overall I do think RDR2 is a good game, but a game that is heavily carried by the story and world to the point where they hide how clunky the gameplay is.
