On all forms of social media, millions of people create millions of posts every day and most of them are pretty tame; however, there are some that are absolutely hilarious or incredibly stupid to the point where people post them on Reddit or other websites and show them to the world.
But many people believe it is a requirement to censor their identities/handles when sharing their posts. I do not agree with this. Why would I bother with hiding someone’s picture or username when sharing a post I found amusing when the person who created the post obviously was fine enough with it to be posted on an open, public forum?
Our social media pages are available to the public, unless you specifically hide your profile from those who are not friends or following you, and individuals hold every right to hide their content prior to posting. If they do not deem it necessary to make their accounts and posts private, why should I bother with doing that for them?
Essentially, if you want to post something, by all means have at it. But be ready to either defend what you post or at least be willing to take criticism for it. And if you are worried about someone taking something you post out of context, take a second and contemplate if it is good to post.
