Post Body

Almost all of it's basic concepts have been done to death. Most takes aren't unique. You're telling me fantasy authors can't come up with something unique besides elves, orcs, goblins in literally a hundred years? Not dissing tolkein or any of the treats that actually made unique stuff originally, but like c'mon guys. Make something, and no, mixed race creatures don't count.

Good example of an actually interesting new race, the Ra'zac in the inheritance cycle. Man eating bile slinging birdlike semi-shapeshifters near extinction whose politics support the dictator due to magical boundment and a belief he will save their species rather than let it be eradicated like the previous regime had.

This is like complaining that a Midwestern diner doesn't have Turkish lentil soup on the breakfast menu.
