I feel like everyone I know worships toaster ovens. They seem like they think a toaster oven is an upgrade from a normal toaster. But it's NOT. Toaster ovens suck for so many reasons, literally the only benefit is seeing your food while it toasts.

My main gripe is that it dries shit out so bad, especially bagels. Putting a bagel in the toaster oven is a one way ticket to a dry hockey puck that deserves to be thrown in the garbage. The beauty of a normal toaster is that the surface of whatever you're toasting is pressed against something super hot and getting crispy and golden, but the inside just getting warmed without causing all the moisture to evaporate. In a toaster oven, it's not the same. You're basically just re-baking bread that's already been baked.

Then, you have the people who cook their frozen food and stuff in the toaster oven instead of the oven, and believe it's somehow more convenient. NO! The only difference is that your oven is big and the toaster oven is small! Maybe the toaster oven is functional for that purpose, but what is the purpose of buying one for that if you ALREADY HAVE AN OVEN? People say it's soooo convenient because of the multiple functions, but if you already have a toaster and an oven, why would you get rid of your toaster and replace it with a small oven?

You aren't saving space, either. A toaster is smaller than a toaster oven, and it's not like a toaster oven adequately replaces any other countertop appliance, so you're just adding bulk to your kitchen. You're taking a streamlined appliance and replacing it with something you already have (your oven) and taking up precious counter space by doing it.

Anyway, toaster ovens suck. Do yourself a favor and buy yourself a decent toaster, and anything that toaster can't do, use your normal goddamn oven.
